According to Metro will be possible in a near future have direct flights from London Gatwick or can transfer at Cork or Barcelona to New York in USA.

We share below the Metro's article:

Ever wished you could hear that glorious Ryanair trumpet after a seven-hour long-haul journey?

Well that dream is about to become a reality, as the budget airline is teaming up with Norwegian to offer trans-atlantic flights to New York.

Passengers will be able to book on either the Norwegian or Ryanair sites, and can either fly direct from London Gatwick, or transfer at Cork or Barcelona.

If you fly from London or Barcelona, a Norwegian spokesman told Metro.co.uk that you’ll fly into ‘major US airports’ such as New York’s JFK, or Boston’s Logan.

However, if you take off from Cork you will land at Stewart International Airport – some 60 miles north of Manhattan, in New York state, with little in the way of public transport options into the city. If you’re driving, it’s around an hour and 45 minutes to midtown.

You can also fly to T.F. Green Airport from Cork if you want to go to Boston, which is around 63 miles from the city.

A Ryanair spokesman told the Daily Mail: ‘Given we have the largest route network in Europe, it’s a logical move and a very attractive proposition for long haul carriers.’

Norwegian boss Bjorn Kjos added that the collaboration was a ‘natural fit’ for them, and said that they’re looking into doing a similar deal with EasyJet.

While fares are yet to be confirmed, Norwegian has previously offered flights from Edinburgh to New York for as little as £69 one-way.
